Nursing and Allied Health Career Ladders Subcommittee
The nursing and allied health professional shortage is well known. The shortage of California RNs may reach 116,000 full-time equivalents by 2020, a 45 percent shortfall. Over the next decade, six of the 10 projected fastest growing occupations involve allied health. By 2012, the United States will require one million new frontline health care workers. This subcommittee is working to formulate a collective plan that will implement meaningful strategies to increase the number of locally trained, culturally and economically diverse health professionals, in partnership with education, health care, business, government, philanthropic and community-based leaders.
