Health Care Delivery Systems
L.A. County’s private and public health institutions include hospitals, the emergency medical and trauma system, free and community clinics, county health centers, private medical groups and integrated private systems and the mental health system. The workforce consists of physicians, nurses and allied health professions, with shortages existing in particular fields and geographic areas. Like the rest of the nation, the local health care delivery network is comprised of several uncoordinated subsystems that lack central planning and ongoing communication among the many parts.
