Memorandum from the L.A. County CEO to the Board of Supervisors providing updates on the County-sponsored AB 2599 (Bass and Hall) and County-supported SB 1901 (Hancock). AB 2599 (Bass and Hall) passed the Assembly Floor by a vote of 46 to 15 on August 27,2010 and will codify the agreement between University of California and Los Angeles County plus provide adequate and predictable funding for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Hospital. AB 2599 (Bass and Hall) is now on the Governors desk to be signed or vetoed. SB 1901 (Hancock) passed the Senate Floor by a vote of 37 to 0 on August 26, 2010 and requires the State to seek Federal approval to extend Medi-Cal benefits to youth in county juvenile facilities who are awaiting adjudication.
